David Kloos

David Kloos is an historian/anthropologist at KITLV/Netherlands Institute for Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies. His main project (supported by an NWO-Veni grant) explores the ways in which female Islamic leaders in Malaysia and Indonesia make use of visual images to communicate with their audience. Research interests include the study of Islam, colonial and postcolonial history, (visual) anthropology, gender and violence.
